"Remember This" A brief History of a Rock'n'Roll Band in the 70's.
Photos taken during the time "Remember This" toured the UK and Scandinavia (1974 - 1976). Whilst in Copenhagen we recorded an LP named "Bop Bop", which I have set as the soundtrack to the video. Sadly Chrissie and Kevin are no longer with us.

A Bob Dylan song given the reggae treatment by myself. Local impresario Bill Wright on vocals, local legends, Marc Layton-Bennett on drums, Clinton McFarlane on bass, Larkie (Jammings) Douglas on guitar, myself on all keyboards, brass and steel pans. My way of saying thank you to all the NHS workers, care workers, refuse collectors, shop workers and any one else who is putting their lives at risk by helping us, the general public to survive this pandemic. Thank You.

The Pirates Of Funk were supposed to be playing at The Shoulder Of Mutton in Slaithwaite on Sat 11 April 2020. We would have played this track. I have finally got round to programming backing tracks on the Korg Kronos. This is a classic by Rodney Franklin from 1980.

The Guy in the Black leather suit ( for the first sight for me : he looks like Alvin Stardust ) 😊
John Sunter Hi bud, a friend posted this on FB and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it and the memories flooding back. Back then I was the bass player in the Leeds band Namesake, still playing with Steve (guitarist) and Brad (drummer) in a band called Jukebox Jive. Hope you're still gigging buddy.
Love the original '72 Tele Custom, I've reissue version from the early 2000's, which wasn't a patch on the original.
0:44 Is that Keith Floyd behind the bar?
That's rubbish. You can't even play in time mate! And you made unintentional mistakes. Dawson is light years ahead of you.
Are you for real!?
Wish they had something on I - Tunes
Is this guy trying to look like Alvin Stardust🤭 , ( there's only one Alvin)🙏💐💔
Yeah. And Alvin thought there was no Elvis. 🤣
Bernard William Jewry
Looks like Shane Fenton
Just found this video of Chrissie today John, what year did Chrissie die?, I am the aunty to Chrissie's 2 children,Christy and Jess,my name is Josie, have they by chance gone into the music business as their mum and her brother's?. Reason I am asking is because I have been doing my Family History for 23+.Thank you.
Hi, Chrissie died 16th June 2020 from Covid I think. Christy does sing in a band and lives in Blackpool, don't know about Jess.
does that mean you are Chrissie's sister?
@@as3cs3 No, I'm the auntie to Chrissie's 2 children,Christy and Jess
@as3cs3, I am the sister of Christy and Jess's father, forgot to explain that to you.
I don't know how I'd never heard of this band - they're amazing! This is the sort of music I loved back in the 70s. I was fortunate enough to have parents who loved music so as a youngster we listened to a lot of 50s rock n roll, and when it started being so popular in the 70s I loved it. I've seen the Wheeltappers and Shunters clip which is great. Is there any more video of Remember This?
Hi Ian, sadly no, there was a video of a whole set we did in the studio but the man from EMI in London destroyed it when we signed contracts with them.
Bond villain working behind the bar…
Some drummer - anyone know who he is? And those dancers had some stamina. I'd need an oxygen tent after about 30 seconds of that.
the drummer is terry kimmage (plod). cool guy, cool bunch. miss them all.
i reckon thats Frank Skinner
Chuffin Brilliant!
is this john sunter who used to play in remember this?
Yes it is I.
@@JohnSunter you probably dont remember me, my name is david, i am the son of marjorie and bernard - bernard was chrissie's uncle. we lived at whitegate road, i remember you all coming to the house after gigs to eat the best toast in huddersfield. damn good to see you and also double damn good that you are still playing. good stuff mate. :) all the best for the new year.
@@9thkyusamuraihairdo331 Hi David, yes I remember going to Whitegate Road and I do remember Marjorie and Bernard, happy days. So sad that Kevin, Chrissie and Nigel are no longer with us. I think that keeping on playing keeps me young. Lovely to hear from you.
@@JohnSunter i didnt know my uncle kevin or nigel had passed, i appreciate the information, i havent been easy to contact. its been a terrible 3 years. i stopped playing a long time ago, getting back into it now. i am happy you are well john. keep groovin' dude. :) marjorie passed in 2011, bernard in 1989, peacefully and quickly. i love you all. chat again soon :)
Hi, yes Nigel passed away in Germany where he had lived most of his life. He died in December 2021 from Covid. He had not been well and unfortunately Covid finished him off. Kevin died in France where he was living, I think from lung cancer (he was a heavy smoker) possibly 8 years ago. Sorry to hear about your parents. John
Just like the clubs I used to go to. Brilliant
Nice 👍
Thanks for the visit
Who were those 2 people dancing on the stage
They were part of the band, Chrissie Holland and Jo
@@JohnSunter Knew Chrissie well. She was in Ivy Benson's band for a while. We had a meet up in Brighouse with other musician friends around 12 years ago. I have a band promo photo with Chrissie perched on my Hammond. Lovely lady.
@@harmer4245 sat atop your organ? Lucky git
Hats off to the lady for doing those moves in Platforms.
Yaaaaa Haaaaaa!!!!!!! ✌️❤️😁🎭

The bop
Any of the Band still going and did any of them become famous ?
The guitar player singing, Chrissie dancing and the bass player have died. I was the piano player and still playing with 3 bands.
@@JohnSunter Great to here from you John, That is sad that some have died you made a great band entertaining as well as musically, loved your style of piano playing very powerful, what are the names of the bands you are in now?
Hi Peter, staying true to rock'n'roll I am in a band called 'J. B. Goode', the singer and guitar of which player replaced the bass player in the video and was in the band for 2 years. I also play in a covers band called 'Higher ground' covering tunes from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Finally I am in a young band called 'Kevlar Boombox' playing original tunes as well as dance classics from the 80's to modern tunes by artists I had never heard of, but I love playing with this band.
Chrissy Holland who's dancing sadley passed away a few years ago I knew her very well 😔💔
Brit version of sha na na
That’s a rock show!
Why don't we have talent like this these days? Amazing!
Because it's all reality rubbish now. Has beens and wannabes.
The band are ok, the dancers are amazing, metronomic.
If that young lady dancer is still with us, and assuming she was around 20 at the time of this recording, she would now be approaching her seventies.
Sadly she died last year.
@@JohnSunter sad😞
I thought that was Frank Skinner for a second. Good music
Brilliant dancers and typical 70'sclub band took me right back to my teenage years when me and my mates had just discovered beer and clubs. I wonder what were the names of the band members and dancers and are they still around? Wish it was like that today happy days what's not to like!
Hi David, John Sunter on piano (literally) still gigging with 3 bands, Chrissie Holland who sadly died recently from Covid, Kevin Kimmage on lead guitar and vocals sadly died a few years ago, Jo Kimmage (dancer) still living in Blackpool, Terry Kimmage still living in huddersfield and Nigel Bletcher on bass, sadly died last year in Germany from covid.
@@JohnSunter Ok John thanks for taking the time to reply. The band were all enjoying themselves and the audience that's what's it all about! RIP to those no longer here,
@@JohnSunter not disrespecting you live the music love england how it used to be but (covid ) yeah alright if you say so john not f--------g having it wish you could see the wood through the trees but respect. .you don't think I'm hurting over lost lived ones but it ain't some new virus that just materialised best wishes john great music the past is another country
Remember this so well. Real entertainment and no woke rubbish
Rock and Roll and that type of dancing was considered extremely woke back then.
Ha ha.. you don't know what woke is.
THEY WERE FIT
The good old early seventies you couldn’t beat it 😂😂😂
Great Entertainment Never Missed A Show On Tv…Remember Seeing Stars Like Johnny Ray, Kathy Kirby Etc & Of Course The Great Bernard Manning. Tv Today Is Absolutely 💩👎
Hi John love it 🎸
Hi Scott, thanks very much, hope you are keeping well.
Wheel tappers and shunters... Gosh I loved this program.
next weeks artist is pinned to the door
Colin Crompton looks like Frank Skinner in Gilbert O'Sullivan's clothes
Gjsv
This guy is funny
50s music in a 70s glam rock style, Colin cromptons hairstyle was nearly as funny as his joke's. The comedians was far better with a better standard of joke's
@02:23 Early Frank Skinner appearance.
One of TVs best shows of the 70s man thats made me feel really nostalgic Colin was king of the MCs need more comics like Bernard to wind up the wokists!
Couldn't stand Colin Crompton.
Remember seeing him coming out of a club in Great Yarmouth with a glamorous woman on each arm in the early seventies must have been the money 😂😂
@@brianmorley7165 certainly wasn't his looks.
hats-off to both the dancers but I think she had a bit more stamina. She was still doing kicks at 3:40 😃
Kentucky here. You cats always took our styles, dressed them up in tight leather & oversized hair, dancing furiously to more crunch & reverb & I love you for it. May it never end ❤⚡️
lol, chrissie made all the costumes herself. :)
Great show ! Who remembers Kathy Kirby ?
Yes I do remember seeing her on black and white telly in the 60's on the Billy Cotton show Wakeky Whaley! My old Dad told me Kathy Kirby was his girlfriend! Me being young and nieve believed him for years.
Alvin Stardust called...said can he have his leather jump suit back?
Ahh absolutely wonderful, ahh it feels so sad" this was our UK ,and just like our traditional food, history our culture etc,its been crushed
Why on earth are you wittering on about. British culture? They're singing a Chuck Berry song you silly sausage. I'm pretty sure he was American.
Ah yes, British culture. Singing American songs influenced by African-American blues music that was influenced by African slave songs, with the dancers doing dances that originated in the tavernas of South America. That’s British culture!
Those dancers were great.
Cans of special brew cigarettes and a barman with an eye patch and a six foot blonde with silver boot I ask whats not to like
Ace Frehley called, he wants his boots back.
1992 called... they want their joke back :)
Frank Skinners aged well......
